Moses prayed for the children of Israel for 40 days and 40 nights without food or water. It would be interesting to know what that really looked like. I mean he probably slept 5 to 8 hours a day. Then he spent the rest of the time talking to God, praying that God wouldn't destroy them. I would run out of stuff to say after the first 5 minutes. God please don't destroy them. You know how ridiculous we all are. They were just so excited about getting out of bondage and all the cruelty that they faced from the Egyptians. It's just all sort of going to their head. And then what do you say for the next 39.9 days?
Deuteronomy 9:18
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
Also, why didn't God come up with a training plan? Desert University, hosted by God. It's going to cover exciting subjects like how to approach an infinite being that created you. How to ask for simple things like water and food and show appreciation. God has big plans for these guys. They're going to be His super elite army of killer priests. No, I'm not kidding.
